Economy Windows - Our Company History

Economy Windows started by Peter and Linda Hobden from their home near Wisbech. Peter used his previous double glazing experience to draw in sales and employed two fitters. The family garage was used as storage and the dining room as the first office.

Premises at Tilney All Saints were acquired due to the success of the company's first two years. All operations were moved to the new site. Fitting teams and vehicles gradually expanded with the influx of orders.

Manufacturing of UPVC windows and doors commenced at Tilney All Saints. Around 15 people now in the company's employment. Distribution depot added in a nearby village.

Purchase of 10,000 sq ft factory at Terrington St. Clement. Manufacturing operation moved here. Tilney All Saints premises refurbished into 3,000 sq ft of showroom.

Office from Tilney All Saints transferred to Terrington St. Clement creating one head office.

Manufacturing ceases and Kommerling UPVC product bought in.

Purchase of third premises in Wisbech. Development takes place to create the largest display of conservatories in the area.

Sale of Tilney showroom to concentrate fully on the Wisbech & Terrington properties. The Company currently employs around 30 people.

The company exceeds all previous sales records and generates more employment opportunities in the local area.

Economy Windows continued growth demands that it becomes a Limited Company

Move of the Terrington St Clement Head Office and Warehouse to Scania Way, King’s Lynn to accommodate a new Head Office, Warehouse and Sales Showroom. Economy Windows Ltd now retains two prime positions in central King’s Lynn and Wisbech and employs around 35 people.

The Company maintains it's annual sales figures despite the "Credit Crunch" and employs the services of a new Business Manager to grow the company further over the next 5 years. Peter Hobden, the company founder, begins to reduce his input in the day-to-day running of the business.

– Economy Windows joins the Master Window and Conservatory Installers Association TOP 100 Window and Conservatory Installers in the UK.
