Victorian Conservatories

Victorian Conservatories one design fits all……?

victorian1The Victorian conservatory is probably the most popular design of conservatory currently on the market because it suits most house styles – be they period property or a new build. Typically available in 3 – 5 facet window segments incorporating a steeply pitched roof and ornate ridge details they are individually designed to incorporate a significant increase in space to your house as an extra room, or just somewhere to relax.

It was during the Victorian era that the nation’s love of the conservatory blossomed, due to the Victorians’ love of all things botanical, particularly tender exotic plants, which could only survive the elements of the English winter when protected by glass.

Victorian conservatory styles were created with ever-more-elaborate details to complement the period homes of the time, often including a “curved” shaping to the windows and doors (a feature which still prevails) and complex features in the roof, to mirror the roofs of Victorian houses.
